Ramy Shaaban is a medical doctor with a Ph.D. degree in Communications Media and Instructional Technology. When Dr. Shaaban obtained his medical degree, he realized that improving the way medical students acquire the needed knowledge is more needed than working at a hospital, taking into consideration his talents in technological innovations. Dr. Ramy's research interests include, but are not limited to, exploring the impact of emerging technologies on learning in the educational field. He, specifically, believes that gamification and game-based learning, aided with scaffolding and collaborative learning, are the gateways to future learning styles and students’ preferences. Ramy also works on applying for grants to fund learning games labs. On a personal level, Dr. Shaaban spends his spare time playing virtual reality (VR) games using Oculus Quest, exploring the fun of the new technologies, and contemplating the future of learning with technology.
